Who will win?

LOL I almost forgot, today is the finale of OIAM 2. So who do you think will win?

My instinct tells me that it's gonna be Syila...:=P . But I won't be surprised if Ayu wins (naik juga nama Sabah)

Meantime....farewell to these American Idol contestants

Kempunan mau tengok Ricky Martin look-alike (Jason) shakes his bon bon ala Ricky Martin...:D. And that Alaina girl looks almost like Carrie Underwood...:)

Women domination

So AF 6 had revealed its nine academic team members that comprised of seven ladies and two males. Apart of the ladies' domination, I guess two other interesting features are the debut appearance of Anita Sarawak as the 'showmanship' guru and the additional number of personnel as the vocal coaches! While I'm loudly applauding Anita's involvement, the additional number of vocal trainers is questionable and sounds hilarious! Let just wait and see if it works. From my observation, watching AF2 to 5, the vocal class doesn’t bring any good or changes to the students’ vocal ability, instead most of them ended up having damaged voice (don’t you think it’s funny!)

1. Siti Hajar - Vocal technique (if you notice this lady had also damaged her own voice) *LOL*

2. Anita Sarawak - Penasihat Penghibur (err...Entertainer Consultant?), stage Performance Trainer (Cikgu Showmanship?..wow! ada juga) She even expects somebody will do the high kick, once her trademark but obviously she has retired doing so now (silap sikit terpelanting-pelanting pelajar yang lembab dia bagi high kick)

3. Ramli M.S.

4. Linda Jasmine - The long standing Choreographer

5. Syafizawati Sharif - Another vocal coach. The report said that after going through Siti Hajar's class the students will be further polished by her...hmmm!

6. Jasmie Rejab - The image/fashion consultant (except for Candy's oversize dress while singing Siti's song, this guy had done a very good job last season)

7. Genervie Kam - An addition to the two vocal trainers. Not so sure on her actual task but it sounds like a Vocal Arranger (which Cikgu Adnan supposed to teach the students but he didn't)

8. Fatimah Abu Bakar - Motivation and English

9. Fauziah Nawi - Performing Art (lakonan, drama, penghayatan). This lady is so serious. you wouldn't find her ketawa terbahak-bahak

So what do you think!

...and sebagai hiburan sampingan...presenting American Idol hopeful David Archuleta singing Imagine. How I wish AF 6 will discover a superb young talent like him...:)

Nice vocal arrangement (fire!..fire!..:D)

Voting for daddy

Iking proves she is daddy’s girl at the polls
26-02-2008 12:09:03 PM
By JO TEH

PETALING JAYA: Actress and TV host Daphne Iking is going to vote for the first time, come March 8.

And her vote will go to a special person – her father, who is contesting the Tambunan seat held by incumbent Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan. Ex-policeman Mozes Michael Iking is contesting under a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket, against the Kadazandusun paramount leader and former chief minister.

The other contender is Koh Kui Tze @ Francis Koh Lui Tze who is contesting as an independent. Pairin, the Parti Bersatu Sabah president, has held the seat since 1976.

“Regardless of which party my dad is from, he is still my father and I will support him,” Iking said.

The election will be a family affair because Iking will be flying home with husband Ryan Chong and three-month-old daughter Isobel Daniella Iking-Chong. Iking said she was raring to return to Kota Kinabalu to show support for her family and that the election was the first political step for her father.

“He has read law and banking and I am sure he wants to do something about it,” she added.

Asked if she would be campaigning with him, Iking, in a disappointed tone, said:

“It is unfortunate that I will not be able to do the ‘rounds’ with him as I have work and a very hectic schedule during the campaign period.”

P/s: Wasn't her father the ex-Director of the defunct Sabah Bank

Four in a million for AB

The previous episode of OIAM 2 saw another hopeful from Sabah voted out. This time it's AB aka "the last man standing". Considering thousands of hopefuls came for the auditions, finishing fourth is quite an achievement.

And here's AB singing his swan song in Spanish entitled Salome

The winner of Mr. Valentine contest

So here's the winner...:=P

A brand new single from Paula Abdul

You must have seen the video premiere during American Idol first elimination show last week. The drums sounded very 80's while Paula's voice was too synthesised (it looks as if the song was recorded way back in the 80s but only released now!). Anyway it's still a great and catchy piece of danceable tune...:) and the video is superb....(minus Simon appearance at the end of course..:O)

American Idol 7

Early exit

I just checked out AI results and here are the unlucky contestants who have been voted out

Joanne Borgella (left) and Amy Davis (right)

Garret Haley (right) and Colton Berry (left)

After watching the 12 boys singing their hearts out in American Idol 7 first show, my first impression was “Wow are they really amateurs?”. I’m not sure if this is the best talents yet but from the first showcase it appears to be a fierce competition amongst the boys. Interestingly not only they are blessed with great vocals and singing style, all of them come with equally good looks as well..:) (Chikezie included). Unlike past seasons when I can easily detect the weakest performer, I guess it’s hard to make my pick this time around (at least from the first show). They sing from the heart with full of passions. I’ve to watch the show more than twice before settling for these two guys as my early favourites

David Archuleta(left) and David Cook (right)

I just like the way they skilfully and creatively twist their songs into something new, fresh and most of all beyond imagination. Coincidently their first names are both David. A random check on the internet shows that David Archuleta has won the hearts of many. No doubt this guy is so adorably talented, but then it's too early to tell.

And don’t underestimate this guy…:).
Danny Noriega

For his ‘colourful attitude’...:) he looks different from the rest. Not quite a favourite but who would have thought someday a male contestant naturally shakes his head ala Beyonce while firing back at Simon!...*LOL*.. I bet he must get many votes from the ‘community’ concerned…:=). So AI has somebody like him, I wonder if our local AF will follow suit (kan ramai ‘mat lembut’ attended AF auditions…kan! ...:=D)

As for the girls, most of them are so shaky and it's not difficult to draw the line between those who perform good and those who don't. My favourites are Carly Smithson (after all she's an ex-recording artiste), Syesha, Ramiele, Asia'h and Amanda...:)

PTI 2: Behind the scene

Imagine the PTI here stands for Pendatang Tanpa Izin and the movie exposes nothing but the agony of having pelarian in our land. Surely it's gonna be a controversial box office...:D. Instead this movie is all about percintaan tanpa izin, a love affair without consent (what's new...:))

Hopefully the theme song is as good as the first instalment.

Fairly worth the wait

I just had the opportunity to 'examine' Danny F. Malingi's debut album. Firstly, who can avoid noticing the cover. Tastefully and gracefully designed (I even like the font). Check punya check si Davelynne bah yang design! The photo/graphic (especially the one at the back cover) looks very well defined as if given a slight touch of graphic animation (bersinar-sinar mata artis). Not to sure if it comes with a specific theme, but to me it looks 'mystique'...:). Kudos to Sumandak!.

And on to the songs. As expected, ballad rules. If you like "Guminawo Oku Dika" I guarantee you like most of the materials here. Unfortunately the song itself is not included in this album (wonder why...copyright issue?). Danny writes 99% of the songs (the other 1% goes to Peter Peninting). The songs are very pleasing and most of them, I can say, are radio-friendly especially the mushy ballads. To me they're equally good. Whatever the DJ picks will become a hit (sort of no killer song here). Danny's voice undoubtedly is one of the best. Soulful and expressive. He's one of those new breed KDM male singers who sing local ballad in R & B mode.

As usual, I always kind of having a high expectation on our local productions. Unfortunately having gone through the whole of this album, I've to say it's slightly below what I'd expected particularly on the music department. But just blame my damn crazy high expectation (maklumlah kan citarasa antarabangsa sangat!..:)), otherwise it's a brilliant efforts by local standard...:)

I'm spoil for choice on which song to promote here and finally picked the first track entitled Minogivang Koh Pomuandamanku or MKP in short. Check it out on KDM playlist!

Farewell to Mark

It's kind of tricky to predict how long Mark will stay in OIAM 2. The question is finally answered in the last episode when he was pronounced as the contestant who was voted out.

Mmm...looks like he did his swan song better than his other performances. Probably he was not under pressure. All the best to him. With the look and talent, I guess it's not hard for him to get 'rezeki'.

Bring back the champ!

I thought Dayang Norani has one of the distinctive voice in the country (very much like Candy's voice). So bad after winning Sinaran in 1998, she didn't even have her own full album.

I think what she was trying to say is.."saya masih sexy bah!"..:D (the dress is very der low cut..:P and what's with those wings at her back?)

Singing in cockney accent

I didn't expect at all that singing with British accent will someday become a global trend until I watch this American Idol hopeful Josiah Leming (his MySpace) belting out his songs the way most current British pop bands do. (For the record he's an American). Whether he did it just to impress Simon (whom I believe has been very, very much impressed) by applying that style this guy stands out from the rest.

Singing Grace Kelly...impressive!

Surprisingly he didn't get through to the top 24! Arrgh! I'm Shocked and Surprised (with capital 'S')! Probably his act of shooing the band members away, to sing alone, was very unsightful to Paula and Randy (is that a British act?..:D). Not to mention he 'british-ised' (if I may use that word...:)) "Stand By Me" as well. The great thing is this guy has made a strong impact and earned himself with lots of fans!(including me...I think..:P). Efforts are being held to vote him back to American Idol (ala Mawi)

I was kind of guessing who will be the first Malaysian band to sing with British accent and not long after I made such guess, there was this new group I heard over X-Fresh FM yesterday (err...unable to capture their name) singing a song entitled "Silly Lily" pronouncing 'time' as 'TOIM'...:D. So accept it guys, it's gonna be a trend. The British invasion is here! (anyway...what's the fuss they've been invading us since time immemorial!)...:D

The day of 'jiwang' songs

Dare to sing this song to a stranger on Valentine's Day? *LOL*

Ocean Deep - Cliff Richard

Love can't you see I'm alone
Can't you give this fool a chance
A little love is all I ask - a little kindness i
n the night
Please don't leave me behind
No - don't tell me love is blind
A little love is all I ask and that is all

Oh love I've been searching so long
I've been searching high n low
A little love is all I ask - a little sadness
When you're gone
Maybe you need a friend
Only please don't lets pretend
A little love is all I ask and that is all

I wanna spread my wings - but I just can't fly
As a string of pearls and pretty girls go sailing by

Ocean deep - I'm so afraid to show my feelings
I have sailed a million ceilings - in my -
Solitary room
Ocean deep - will I ever find a lover
Maybe she has found another
And as I cry myself to sleep
I know this love of mine I'll keep - ocean deep

Love can't you hear when I call
Can't you hear a word I say
A little love is all I ask
A little feeling when we touch
Why am I still alone?
I've got a heart without a home
A little love is all I ask - and that is all

I wanna spread my wings - but I just can't fly
As a string of pearls and pretty girls go sailing by

Ocean deep - I'm so afraid to show my feelings
I have sailed a million ceilings - in my -
Solitary room
Ocean deep - will I ever find a lover
Maybe she has found another
And as I cry myself to sleep
I know this love of mine I'll keep - ocean deep

I'm so lonely lonely lonely...
Maybe..

Sabah celebrities to grace Miss Sabah pageant

Sabah-born celebrities are set to grace the 2008 Miss Sabah pageant to be held on March 15 at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Hotel. Among the celebrities to appear are Tawau-born Amber Chia (who will also be one of the judges), Adelaine Chin (winner of Miss Malaysia/Universe 2007), Rahima Orchient Yayah (winner of Miss Malaysia/World 1994), Daphne Iking and DJ Constantine aka Johny Black. The organising chairperson, Minah Hong said talks were also being held to bring Che'Nelle to perform in the event! (Hmm! If Che'Nelle confirm to attend I'll consider going..:))

Talking about Rahima Orchient Yayah (arguably dubbed as "Wanita Melayu/Muslim Terakhir" to be crowned as Miss Malaysia before the fatwa was issued in 1997) I guess this Tawau-born girl is the top achiever not only amongst the Sabahan ladies but also amongst the Malay girls who had represented Malaysia in the Miss World/Miss Universe beauty pageants. She's in the top 10 of the Miss World 1994 pageant that saw Indian's Aishwara Rai grabbed the crown (word has it that Rahima finished 7th). Check her out on this video (she appears right after Erra Fazira...wow Erra in swimming suit...kelas!)

The Toyota Rush commercial

If your trip involves getting on board a ferry (just like our trip to Labuan) and you always worry whether you reach the terminal on time or not (again exactly like us) this is the car for you...:=)

LOL...how I wish we could board the ferry to Labuan like that!

Hiburan variasi

A deal with Astro Kirana?

From the report below, looks like some deals are being arranged between KarywanWS (the production team behind the short movie Mimpi 3x) with Astro Kirana. Whatever the deal is, let's hope it's going to be materialised soon.

The launching of Majakui's debut album

A party was held recently to launch Majakui's first debut album. A number of well known local artistes attended the party to show their support to his debut effort.

KK 8th City Day Anniversary

KK City's 8th anniversary was celebrated with full of joy last Saturday at the waterfront. However unlike last year, there was no stage concert organised this time around. The main attraction is the performances by the international dance troupes from Scotland, Ireland, Poland, Ukraine, Spain, Brazil, Kenya and New Zealand.

The international dance performances (not captured
on this video are dances from Kenya, Ukraine
and New Zealand)

The troupes will be performing the longer version of their dances at Dewan Cancelor UMS on Feb 3,4 and 5 from 7.30 - 10.30 pm. Unfortunately it's not a free admission you need to fork out some money to watch them...:(. Tickets prices are RM 30, 50, 100, 150 and 200!

And as usual the celebration ended with a firework display.

Mmm..not as good as last year

Opps..just realised the fireworks video is not working...:=D! (maybe it's too short)

Mas interview in AC Di Sini

A special edit of AC interview session with Mas in the program AC Di Sini. Kelakar jugalah interview dengan si Mas ni. Tersasul cakap Englishpun dia feel guilty..

Nope you can't make your chin looks slim and sharp from different angle just by some touch-ups (make-up shading techniques)...right ladies?

The Sabah Development Corridor (SDC)

For those of you who watched the live telecast of the launching of the SDC by the Prime Minister recently (29th Jan over TV1) must have very clear picture on what SDC is all about. For those who didn't, it's actually a grand ceremony to unveil the future development in Sabah which comes under a package called SDC. It promises the state with lots and lots of development and it's not a bad idea to pray that Sabah won't sink underwater due to the heavy load of development under SDC...:). Some of the proposed projects are just too impressive including a high tech railway system connecting KK - Keningau served by a fast train (matilah laju kunun, belum siap buat tinggaton sudah sampai Keningau).

Also in the pipeline is the KK City Waterfront or KKCW (actually this was mentioned long before SDC comes into picture and am puzzled why it's suddenly 'amplified' as part of the SDC). The waterfront development strongly guarantee no sea reclamation involved. But by looking at the photo below of the ambitious Suria Capital Development Park (part of the KKCW) looks like the sea won't be spared! Hmm...

To the oppositions, SDC is nothing more than an expensive re-packaging excercise and a BN election's gimmick...:=D. In other words it is a big chunk of 'bait' to catch more fishes (voters) *LOL*.
