Lagu Kadazan Dari Ebi

When I came across the article below in Daily Express yesterday, I was like "for heaven sake! AGAIN!?". For the record this is the second time the very same article, by Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Herman Luping (fuhh..what a long name! but I'm a loyal reader of his column), published in the same daily (the first one appeared many months back, some time last year I think). It's all about.... errm...the search for the single label to address the Tangaah, Liwan, Bundu, Lotud, Tatana, Kwijau, Rungus, Tindal and the list goes on. It looks like the single label 'Kadazan' proposed in the 60's received a lukewarm response by many of those sub-ethnics.

The reasons for objecting the label (Kadazan) have been hotly debated in many forums (online as well as offline), so I'm not in the mood of repeating those reasons here. But one reason that makes me really laugh is, "how come you adopt the Tangaah dialect as the standard language for these people when most Dusuns hardly pronounce the 'z' and 'v'" (hehehe). Terus saya teringat kenangan manis kami ajar seorang kawan ni sebut perkataan "Azizah", berabis dia susun atur lidah dia mo sebut 'z' (sampai terkambang-kambang hidung)..at the end 'Ah-Jee-Jaa' juga yang tersembul dari mulut dia..."atukk! osusa' nopo ri" dia bilang *LOL*. OK back to the issue. 'Consensus'...really? are we still searching? Wait! Hang on a second. Don't we have this one very popular catchy word acceptable by all, not only the natives but also the outsiders. This word I think can be used to label us. The word I'm talking about is....jeng..jeng..jeng...hold your breath..

"ARAMAITIE!"

I meet many people during the course of doing my job that requires me to travel around Sabah. Often these people ask me questions like "where are you from?", "Where is your kampung?" or straight away ask my background. When I reveal my background to them, they (especially the natives) will definitely say "nah kan aramaiti juga" and often followed by friendly gestures of gently striking their thumbs with mine (ala-ala high-five kunun ni). Even non-natives will also mention "aramaiti" ;=). This happened almost everywhere I go, from Long Pasia up to Tungku. So.....I mean...why not! Although it sounds amusing but...like it or not this got to be the consensus we have right now *grin*. So let's just call ourselves as rumpun "Aramaiti" (period! Done!). And if we were to be listed on the United Nation's list we will be likely listed next to "Aramaic" the native which Jesus Christ belongs to *BIG GRIN*

Alamak terlebih berbicara pula hari ni. So here's Ebi melakukan percubaan berani mati menyanyikan lagu dalam salah satu bahasa rumpun "Aramaiti". Check it out!

Om hansam do kada da gia kivao di okuukuvaan songian do mangaait zikoi do tinau dagai tu iho no gia pinomungaanan do tinau za, kogumuan di mohoingan au kotoimo do pomungaanan do KADUS, KADAZANDUSUN toi KDM tu noikot gia bida o kangaangaanai diti.
